World Poker Tour in China
Bendigo was hired by WPT Enterprises in fall 2006 to expand the brand into Asia. Sofka teamed up with his JV partners at COG Marketing Group to explore opportunities with the China Sports Ministry’ Leisure Sports Administrative Center, the sanctioning body for Poker in China. Gambling is not legal in the territory, but Sofka learned that the beloved local game of “Traktor Poker” had been recently sanctioned as a Sport, and that new national rules had been created to unify the various styles of
play
across China.
In
August
of 2007,
the
agreement
was
signed
between WPTE
and CLSAC
for an
historic
5 year
exclusive
contract
where
WPT was
named
the
Exclusive
Commercial
Sanctioning
Body and
Marketing
Partner of the
CLSAC,
launching the
first
National Poker Tour in
China (www.wptpoker.cn).
The project will be led
by Sofka and his JV
partners at COGMG.
