The Bendigo Story
The legendary goldfields of Bendigo inspired the great Australian gold rush in 1851. Speculators fueled a land-grab which covered over 360 square kilometers of goldfields, and then forged a grand 19th century Victorian city.
Bendigo’s greatest riches were not, however in its surface gold fields. They were mined deep underground at the site of the original strike. Deeper than the Empire State Building is high, the mines of Bendigo yielded $Millions in gold through four very simple steps:
